Halloween is on October 31st, the last day of the Celtic calendar. It was originally a pagan holiday, honoring the dead. Halloween was referred to as All Hallows Eve and dates back to over 2000 years ago.
On Thursday, October 27th, 2011, there was a great party in omeida. They celebrated to welcome the Halloween’s Day. Let’s take a look at these pictures!
A darkened room entered by creepy, spooky, grotesque, ugly, beautiful and colorfully dressed people. Imagine the scene of glowing carved out pumpkins.
Imagine coming face to face with the Grim Reaper, a fearsome pirate, a fortune teller, witch, beer fish man, and a Bin Laden lookalike to name but a few of the spooky costumed students, teachers and our Principal.
Stranger than fiction you may be thinking but that was the scene at Omeida's Social night and as spooky as many costumes were the atmosphere was happy and the evening super fun!
A game was played in which there was a large bowl of water with apples bobbing about and brave students bent over the bowl to grab an apple with their mouth. How difficult that was but many succeeded and there was much laughter and lots of chuckling students to join in the fun!
Our president Odar also attended the game to bite apples, look, so much hair wetting!
Students like Julius bite apple, a thumbs-up.
Ghostly smoke floated from the stage and the ‘International Band’ entertained the enthusiastic crowd who danced, clapped and waved their arms in time to the great music. Thanks to our teachers who are so talented. Kat from Australia, Rob from South Africa and Rob from Ireland.
